Derek

"How old did you say you were, Billy?" The male psychiatrist asked, looking up from his notebook to the blond haired male across from him. Derek sighed, twidling his fingers childishly. He looked down, not wanting to be medicated, so he would answer calmly. A sweet voice answere the shrink, "I told you, I'm ten. And I don't know where you keep getting the name 'Billy', I'm Derek." he answered softly. He got a little tired of being called by a name he didn't even know. He didn't know where they all got it. How many times did he have to keep introducing himself?

The male shrink merely grinned and nodded, writing something in his notebook. Derek tilted his head to the side, raising his ass up off the seat slightly, leaning toward the shirnk. Derek raised his chin, trying to see what he was writing. he was greeted by a harsh smack on the head with the notebook. Since it was a hardback book, it really hurt. Derek whimpered and dropped his ass on the sofa. "Your being bad, Derek! Now sit and stay quiet." The shirnk ordered, clearly knowing how to handle Derek. "Sorry...." Derek whispered sadly, sitting back and curling his legs up, it was obvious that Derek truly believed he was ten...

Derek merely tucked his chin toward his chest, resting his lips on his knees. The silence was deafening, and all that shrink was doing now was writing in his notebook. Derek's eyes began to wander around the room, examining it thoroughly, noticing as the door opened slowly. He saw a man enter that had a strange quality about him. Derek only found himself pressing his body closer to the arm of the couch he sat upon. Yes, he was quite afraid now. Simply because most times when he had to come here, no others came in.... Especially not one this big. The man was huge, at least to Derek's eyes. Derek only stood at five feet, eight inches anyway.

Derek then simply watched as the shrink left the room, tucking the ever curious notebook under his arm. Was he displeased with him? Derek bit his lower lip, he didn't want that. When the other spoke, he flinched, his eyes turning to his. He swallowed then a sweet voice answered, "I'm, Derek." the only thing that moved on him was his lips. Of course, this not moving thing wouldn't last long. He often couldn't sit still. Derek looked the man up and down, since he was new, Derek hadn't been treated too awful nice so far. So, the mans friendly greeting was a bit alarming. He scanned over the mans hands and his lab coat, searching for any needles... he hated needles.

As the doctor spoke, Derek relaxed. His legs slowly slid away from his chest, his feet gently settling on the carpeted floor. His hands fell to his lap, his chilled hands together, his fingers twisting themselves in knots. He was still nervous, but did as he was advised, and wasn't afraid like he was before.

As Fear spoke again, asking him what he liked to do. Derek tilted his head to the side curiously, snickering childishly when he called the other a grouch. His hand went up to his lips to try to smother his small laughter. "Umm..." He hummed, thinking. This doctor really seemed interested in him, and that made Derek happy, that he could be so interesting. He scratched his head, chewing his lower lip gently, thinking about it before answering. "I like to color, and play games." He answered cheerfully, grinning up at him. "And I've always liked to draw..." He added brightly.

Derek watched as he stood and moved to a desk. Derek sat up straiter, trying very hard to peer into the drawer so he could see what Fear was getting. But as soon as Fear turned back around, Derek slumped back down and looked away, acting like he wasn't interested. But when he saw those drawing tools, he was very interested. "Yay!" He exclaimed lightly, clapping his hands thrice together excitedly. He fell to his knees beside the table instantly. He reached for a pencil but stopped when Fear grabbed the same one. He glanced up at him and watched as he gestured for him to draw too.

Derek eagerly picked up a pencil and slid a piece of paper toward him. He chewed lightly on the eraser end of the pencil, thinking. He studied the paper for a moment, then in gentle strokes began to draw. The pencil marks were light at first, skillfully sketching what looked like the outlines of a room of furniture. Derek sat very quietly, only the pencil making noise on the paper. He finished his light outline sketch and without looking up from the paper, grabbed a black pen. He began to add much more detail to the picture, taking up the whole piece of paper. He sunk his teeth into his lower lip gently, his eyes concentrating. Every once in a while he would glance up at the room around him and Fear, but would return his gaze to his drawing.

Derek was finished a little later, he grinned and held it up proudly. "What'cha think?" He asked, tilting his head and grinning cutely. The drawing was of the room they were in, only empty, or, without people. Derek set it down so Fear could see it better and instantly started in on something else, glancing up at Fear often to see his reaction to what he sketched, thoroughly enjoying himself.
